Coal Creek Falls
Take a stroll through the West Coast rain-forest to the mighty Coal Creek Falls.
Become immersed in the surrounding beauty of the native rain-forest enjoying the pleasant sound of the birds singing as you follow crystal clear streams gently descending through the Coal Creek valley towards the West Coast's iconic Coal Creek Falls.
The Coal Creek Falls track is a short walk taking around 1 hour to complete the return route. You'll find the terrain to be softy undulating but very comfortable to navigate around this easy path.
With plenty of space for parking right by the entrance makes it incredibly easy to access, while also being hidden in away in a quiet area of town, you're likely to experience peace and tranquility while venturing though this perfectly secluded area.
At the end of the walk you'll find the magnificent, wide, 7-meter high waterfall flowing over large rocks. It's a wonderful place to sit in the shade and watch the water flowing, the pools below the waterfall is also an excellent spot to cool off with a swim in the hot summer months! Be especially careful when jumping in to look out for underwater rocks and logs.

From Greymouth follow SH6 northeast for 8 km to Runanga. Turn right down Seddon Street and right into Ballance Street. There is a carpark at the end of Ballance Street.
